Take It To The Water (12 minutes): Through rich sounds and beautiful images of the mountain-waterscapes of the Sinixt TÉ™mxwúlaÊ”xw (homeland) in BC, Canada; the film invites us to deepen our relationship to Water. Sinixt Matriarch Marilyn James shares this indigenous practice and a group of children reflect on their experience of taking it to the Water.

Beyond Extinction: Sinixt Insurgence (60 minutes): Spanning over 25 years, Beyond Extinction: A Sinixt Resurgence is a visually rich and deeply moving documentary that follows the resurgence of the Sinixt people—whose traditional territories stretch across what is now southwest British Columbia and Washington State, territories divided by a colonial border.
Declared “extinct” by the Canadian government in 1956, the Sinixt have fought back— to reclaim their rights, their land, their ancestors, and their stories.

Snk'mip: Dig Deeper (60 minutes): As an idealistic conservation group strives to restore a damaged wetland, tensions escalate with off-road motorized users. Then a startling revelation uncovers the site's Indigenous history, propelling us on a transformative journey that makes us 'dig deeper' to understand whose land this truly is.

WELCOME TO THE MOVIES
The Gem Theatre has been locally owned since its inception well over 100 years ago and remains that way today. A theatre and performance centre should be a positive experience for the folks of Grand Forks and for visitors to the town. The Gem Theatre has been promoting friendship, community spirit and connection since 1913 and will continue that very tradition today.
